The Berlin Police Department achieved accreditation through the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police (NJSACOP) in June of 2026 and was recognized for it in October of 2026 under Chief of Police Michael Scheer and Accreditation Manager Lt. Joshua Smith. This certificate is awarded for a duration of three years, where a comprehensive review will be conducted again to maintain our status. Accreditation demonstrates that our organization, teams and officers operate at the highest standards of law enforcement and that we are deploying and demonstrating best law enforcement practices.
